When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

If you're in a hurry, take the long way!
Good artists are the crappy artists who never gave up

I asked a wise man what convolution means, but his reply was rather convoluted itself, so I had to look it up...
I've been wrestling with reality all my life, and I'm proud to say, I think I finally won out over it. ^__^x
did you leave the shadow at least? xD
n what do you think? was it not to hard block-in?

Ok... seriously, you did a great job with it. A few more seeds might look good, but otherwise... then again, less seeds taste better.

Hrm, but I guess I agree with you that it looks a little too 'hard', it kinda reminds me of your apple, but then apples are shiiiny and hard I guess. XD Maybe it would look softer if the highlights weren't as strong, or something? And maybe it could look more like a strawberry if you added more seeds on as well? At the moment, it reminds the Kei of a *cough* strawberry-apple hybrid, so the Kei is torn... because the Kei likes to CHOMP apples but hates strawberries
But the Kei thinks that the hint of strawberry in the shadow is pretty cool

Nothing is too hard or too easy. Everything takes up an effort to do.

Before I start, I should say that I don't actually have that much experience with color work, and probably shouldn't be critiquing. I'm still going to post this long winded review on the off chance that my observations are of help to you, which I sincerely hope it will be. That said...
The most glaring problem is the colors. Instead of a bright and vibrant red, the red of this strawberry feels a lot more like the red of an apple, which is much deeper and crystalline.
The second more subtle, but decisive mistake is the shape of the strawberry. If you look at the photo, there's a bit of a triangular dip on the side in the shadows. It's formed by the two darkest part of the shadow which divides the primary and secondary light cast on the fruit.
In your painting, this dip is transformed into a smooth curve towards the side in the shadow. Again, more like an apple than a strawberry. A strawberry is cone shaped with a slight rounded tip that juts out, as if the fruit is going to drip out of itself. Reflecting that shape would add a lot to the "fleshy" feel.
Lastly, the dips of the flesh towards the seeds need to be addressed. Right now, there's not really a noticeable dip except for two of them. It doesn't have to be very deep or detailed, but texture is so important in the look of a strawberry that I really think it would help to put them there, instead of putting a glaze over the shell/shape of the fruit. Also, the yellow of the seeds need to be more prominent, since the color will help brighten up the red.
Oh, and the leaves feel like they're too dark with that outline. In the photo, the darker side is on the bottom of the leaves. Darken the green a bit more selectively to help the viewers of the image tell which side is up and down to create a sense of thin flat leaves, instead of thick edged leaves. But this part is pretty much nit pick...
Um. So. I hope this helps!
